Twenty five years ago,  Mike and Kim Jenkins were blessed with two beautiful twin daughters, Chelsea and Courtney. Their whole lives the twin girls had major events at the same time, their first steps, Sweet 16 party, high school graduation, they even went to college together at East Texas Baptist University.  After graduation, they went out into the world on their own for the first time in their lives.

Chelsea took a job working for Dallas Baptist University. One day she delivered some recruiting materials to Steven Christopher, who happened to work with Chelsea’s soon-to-be new roommate, Erica. Thinking she was pretty cute, Steven asked Erica specifically about Chelsea and whether she was single.  The next day, Chelsea met Erica and some of her co-workers for lunch and Steven happened to also be there.   They began a routine of having lunch with other co-workers and emailing throughout the work day. Steven eventually asked Chelsea to hang out with him after work one day and the two spent the afternoon walking around the college campus getting to know each other. The very next day, Steven helped Chelsea move into her new house with her new roommate Erica. A week later he took her to Wing Stop and Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar for their first date on August 27, 2011 and soon after they were an inseparable item.

Courtney had taken a job working with Tyler Junior College. Because she was so close to her home town, Longview, Texas she was able to go back often to visit old friends. On the night of January 7, 2012, she was out with friends who also happened to be friends with Aaron Cardino.  Aaron and Courtney hit it off immediately that night and discovered they had attended high school together, one year apart but had never met each other before. After that night, they, too became an inseparable item. In June, Courtney was offered a job in Hillsboro, Texas working at Hill College. Aaron did not want to be apart from her, so he too began looking for a job in Hillsboro.

Both sisters had been dating their significant others for quite some time when they began planning for their 25th birthday on October 6, 2012. Both had decided they just wanted to spend some quality time with their boyfriends, Steven and Aaron, because of how busy they had become in their careers. So the guys both planned a wonderful evening for the sisters.

Steven took Chelsea to one of their favorite restaurants, Gordon Biersch and had planned to watch the Rangers play-off game after… or so he said. Aaron took Courtney to one of her favorite restaurants then planned dessert to-go and picked up a couple of movies. Neither girl was suspecting anything more than a nice quiet birthday dinner on October 5, 2012 but the guys had a different plan for them.

After dinner, Steven took Chelsea to the roof of the parking garage in his downtown Dallas Apartment. There he had set up flowers and candles. Chelsea was so surprised when he pulled the ring from his pocket and asked her to marry him. Of course she said YES!

When Courtney and Aaron got to the house in Hillsboro after their dinner, Aaron began getting the dessert ready. Courtney walked back into the kitchen to find Aaron down on one knee, holding a ring box, asking her to marry him. Of course, she, too, said YES!

Once again, Chelsea and Courtney were sharing another very special and important day in their life together. What made their birthday even more special for them was the fact that their proposals were not planned or foreseen to be on the same evening.

Chelsea Jenkins plans to wed Steven Christopher at Lake Cherokee on March 30, 2013 in Longview, Texas.

Courtney Jenkins plans to wed Aaron Cardino in a small ceremony on the Beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama in June 2013.

Katy Baskin & Seth Foster

katy-baskin-high-resSeth and Katy met two years ago at her house. She was living with a girl that went to high school with Seth and they were having a small get-together one evening. Katy had a horrible day and when she came home, Seth was sitting on her couch. She decided that she needed to get out of the house and asked Seth to take her somewhere. He agreed and they rode around for a little while, talking about everything they could think of. When they finally got back to the house, the two spent the evening making sure to be around each other, getting to know each other better. Seth finally put his number in Katy’s phone so she would have it and he gave her his number.

The next morning, Katy received a text from Seth asking for a lunch date. She  was under the impression that the date was just a “friend” date. But it turned out to be the first of many dates. He was working in Shreveport at the time and had driven over for lunch just to take Katy out. They started hanging out as much as possible and became an official couple.

About two years into dating, they started talking about getting married. Katy says they never went to look at rings, but that Seth knew exactly what she wanted. She  “patiently” waited for eight months for him to pop the question. She was finally at her wits end and decided to stop thinking about it, knowing it would happen in its own time!

At the end of August, Seth was the best man in his best friend’s wedding. The night of the wedding came along and Katy was feeling the “wedding” blues because they were still not engaged. Little did she know, she had a HUGE surprise waiting for her later that evening.

They had a wonderful time at the reception. When it came time for the bouquet to be thrown, Katy was trying to get in position to catch it. Unfortunately, she wasn’t even close to catching it and was upset for a little while because she says she thought  something magical would happen if she caught it. After the bouquet toss, she walked over to Seth and he told her to stay close by for the garter toss. She thought it was weird, but she stayed close to Seth.

Then one of the bridesmaids asked Katy to stand in a chair next to her and watch the garter toss because she didn’t want to stand alone. Katy hesitated because of the heels she had on but still got in the chair.  She couldn’t see anything because of the line of guys waiting for the toss. When the garter was finally tossed, she decided to get down because the show was over. The bridesmaid grabbed her very quickly and said, “No, stay up here with me.” Katy thought she was being a silly girl, so she stayed. About that time, she looked up to the crowd of people to see Seth coming her way. Then she noticed a very large crowd of people circled around the chair she was standing in. She saw that in Seth’s hand was a small black box. She says she immediately thought, “Oh my gosh, is this really happening?” And it was! Seth walked over to her with tears in his eyes, opened the box, and got down on one knee. The entire crowd started yelling for the couple! All Katy could do was get down from the chair and embrace him with a hug! He whispered in her ear, “Will you?” Her answer was of course a YES!

The proposal was something Katy had never dreamed of and everything she could have asked for. It was absolutely perfect! The couple is getting married in March of 2013; and she is planning to wear the garter Seth caught from the wedding where he proposed as her “something borrowed!” She says it was the greatest moment of her entire life!
