Von’s Vice – 4 Trends 2 Watch in 2014

Published on January 10, 2014 . Blog, Issue 61, Von's Vice

2014 is bursting with new and fabulous ideas to make your wedding day uniquely yours.

1.) More is Better

“I’m generally noticing a real return to modesty. Brides don’t want to reveal too much skin. I’m seeing a move towards designs that feature little sleeves and more brides are shying away from plunging necklines. Instead, playing with the transparency of lace can be better.” – Revealed Designer Elise Hameau

2.) Sleeves

The strapless gown trend is definitely on its way out and is being replaced with a variety of sleeve options.  From a classic cap sleeve to a full length look, “à la” Princess Kate, the options here are crazy fun!  With wedding dress designers such as Monique Lhuillier & Carolina Herrerra showing so much love for the sleeve during their Spring 2014 Runways, it’s clear the sleeve is too versatile to pass up.

3.) Hair Bows

Bodacious bows are a great way to set yourself apart from the more traditional hair pieces.  Extra long, lacey ribbons wrapped around a mess of romantic touseled curls is an irresistible alternative to the bride who still wants to wear her hair ‘down’.  Keep in mind, this is an uncoiffed look.  No stiff boxy bows or helmet hair with this trend.

4.) Big Bling. Major. Huge.

I’ve noticed more brides opting out of tiaras and hair combs and instead going for what I call the ‘Vintage Broach Approach’.  This look features soft curls paired with one large rhinestone hair piece that’s reminiscent of the 1920’s & 30’s.  This simple classic is an easy win.
