One of the most challenging decisions future brides and grooms must make is where to host their dream wedding. They want it to be unique and memorable, not only for themselves, but for their friends and family. Therefore, choosing the Silver Spur Resort as their venue is choosing to celebrate their special day at a place that can offer them everything they deserve.
Located on 34 acres in Canton, Texas, the Silver Spur Resort gives guests a slice of ranch life with a luxury flair. The natural expanses and rustic charm offer both large and small groups a much needed respite from the busy city, as well as everything guests need logistically to host a wedding, hold a corporate weekend retreat, or gather with family for a reunion or birthday.
Jeff Durham, General Manager of the resort, built the home which is now the bed and breakfast on the premises 11 years ago and lived there with his family. The Durham’s Roost B&B has five bedrooms, four bathrooms (including private bath), walk-in closet, satellite T.V., and includes a fresh breakfast. There are also cabins built from the ground up that guests can also use to create a unique experience.
The resort has also opened its barn doors for those who want to hold an event. Among its features are high ceilings, wood beams, and two outdoor wedding ceremony locations. Couples can choose from a raised arbor surrounded by exquisite landscaping or the scenic pond. Both give brides and grooms a beautiful backdrop to incorporate into their personal wedding style.
Aside from the bed and breakfast, cottages, and barn venue, the Silver Spur Resort plans on expanding to include a restaurant, high end camping options (a.k.a. glamping), and an RV park. “All of this is being done with the mindset of, ‘What else can we do to exceed our guests’ expectations?’” Jeff says. “We are not rushing through trying to save money and cut corners. We want to wow our guests and offer a level of service that no other property in the area offers.”
The resort is getting ready to attend its first bridal show and has had an overwhelming amount of interest through word of mouth, social media, and recent weddings. “I truly expect the response over the next year to be outstanding, and because of that, I would suggest brides contact us at least six months to a year out.”
Couples who visit the site and meet with the Silver Spur team can expect to work with a group of people who are focused on making their wedding a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Jeff notes that they will not rent the venue and just hand over the keys. “We want to be part of the experience to make every wedding, big or small, the wedding of a lifetime.”
