Miss Mary’s Place
About Miss Mary’s Place
The Miss Mary’s Place story is as charming as the venue itself. As children, sisters Jan Eubank VanMeter and Kerri Eubank Lattery, and their brothers, Mark and Mike Eubank, would walk along a trail in Peatown, Texas, to visit Miss Mary who lived in a little country farm house at the end of an old road. Daffodils, pansies, roses, and lilies bloomed beneath ancient oak trees and crepe myrtles, creating an atmosphere of sweetly-scented natural beauty. This is the inspiration behind Mary Emma’s Garden located at what’s now Miss Mary’s Place. The gardens are in bloom year round and create the perfect ambiance for their couples.
Miss Mary’s Place was officially opened by the Eubank family in 2011. Like many wedding venues, the idea came about after planning a wedding and reception for a family member. “We enjoyed the experience so much that the decision was made to share our experiences and our expertise with others,” Kerri says.
The venue is a unique blend of southern elegance and rustic charm nestled on 25 acres of East Texas countryside. The rustic cedar barn and enchanting gardens make Miss Mary’s an ideal place for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and just about any special celebration.
The 4500-square-foot barn comes complete with elegant lighting, chandeliers, period pieces, and chic décor to enhance any bride and groom’s wedding theme.
The venue also includes a 3200-square-foot bridal hall, which includes the bride’s dressing room, a kitchen and staging area, a serving bar, and a hospitality room. This space can also be used for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and smaller private parties. A 10-foot projection screen is included for slide show presentations.
The prized Mary Emma’s Garden is a professionally landscaped and meticulously maintained garden designed to provide year round elegance and floral embellishments. Among the gardens is a charming rock and cedar pavilion with a 130-foot bridal wedding walk. There are also terraces, additional decorative niches, and dancing areas, all enhanced with romantic outdoor lighting to boost the ambiance of any evening event.
Miss Mary’s Place offers a standard package for those planning a special event, as well as optional package upgrades, service upgrades, convenient rental inventory, preferred vendors, and experienced professional staff who are available to assist each client during his or her journey.
“One piece of advice we like to give our couples is to set and stay on a budget,” Jan says. “It’s imperative for couples to discuss each of their wedding-day visions. Couples need to decide the best manner in which to utilize their budget dollars. Do they want live musicians or a D J? Do they wish to dedicate a larger portion of the budget dollars on decorative elements and flowers? What do they want to spend on food for the reception and the cakes, or do they prefer to spend a larger portion of the budget on the reception party itself? The beautiful flowers in the garden, the elegant indoor and outdoor lighting, and the inclusion of permanent props can also assist one on a decorating budget.”
For brides and grooms wanting a little extra assistance, Miss Mary’s Place offers in-depth consultation, as well as processes that can assist the couple throughout the planning process.
Couples wanting to have their wedding on a Saturday in the spring or fall should book at least one year in advance. Alternatively, clients can book on Friday or Sunday, which tend to be more cost effective and work for many of the venue’s brides and grooms.
Miss Mary’s Place has many new surprises underway. “We are growing! The sisters are constantly shopping for new decorative elements and exploring trending styles. Our couples can look forward to enjoying our new additions and enhancements as the Eubank family reveals each one throughout the year.”
Until then, those planning a special event can continue to enjoy what Miss Mary’s Place already has to offer: charm, enchantment, and a whole lot of natural beauty.
